Welcome to the Year 3 class page

This page contains a mixture of information, photos of our learning as well as links to useful websites and learning games. From time to time, in addition to the weekly homework, extra work will be set on Google Classroom.

The DISCOVER term

This term our theme is 'DISCOVER'.  Our core subjects of Maths and English will be taught on a daily basis and the other core subject, RE, will be taught alternately with PSHE every other week.

Our focus subjects which feed into the 'DISCOVER' theme are History and DT. In History the children will be exploring prehistory.  They will be investigating aspects of the past through historical as well as art and technological skills. They will be learning about how people lived in the Stone Age through to the Iron Age and all the way through be trying to answer our discovery question 'Are we getting cleverer?' and backing up their answers with historical evidence . In DT we will be Hunter gatherers and will be finding out about the seasonal foods that grow in the UK. We will then hunt and gather our ingredients to make a seasonal 'Stone Age Stew' and possibly some kebabs that we can cook over a fire in Forest School. Throughout these tasks the children will also learn about food safety and hygiene as well as food preparation skills such as chopping and grating.

The children will also be exploring multimedia and word processing in their weekly computing lessons and enjoying sessions in Forest School on a Thursday. PE lessons will take place on Thursdays and Fridays so don't forget your active uniforms!
