Welcome to Year 1

Each of the schools terms are themed.

Autumn Term

The EXPLORE term – focusing on geography and science

Spring term

The DISCOVER term – focusing on history and DT.

Create:

In Art this term will be learning about drawing and painting. In drawing we will explore mark making using different tools and will look at the work by Molly Haslund. In our painting lessons we will explore brush strokes and colour mixing. We will look at the work by Pablo Picasso and will have a go at conveying emotion through colour choice.

In Music we will learn about tone and rhythm, and tempo. We will be creating our own pieces of music and will be performing to each other.

In Science this term we are learning all about plants. We will learn what plants require to grow and will have a go at planting for ourselves. We will also learn how to identify deciduous and evergreen trees.

The children's learning has been summarised into school curriculum maps which show progression across the school and knowledge organisers (KOs) which are specific to each class.  Use the links below to take you to the KOs that will be used in the Create term.
