Discover

Our curriculum at Hollybush is now split into three 'subject focused' terms. Explore term (Geography, Science focus), Discover Term (History, D&T focus) and Create term (Art & Music focus). Children will still be studying the whole curriculum, but we will be doing in depth study's of our focus subjects in each term.

This term we will be trying to answer the question - 'Can an Empire strike back?' & 'Do the Benin Bronzes belong in the British Museum?'

We will be learning about the Roman Empire, and the Kingdom of Benin in our History lessons. In our English lessons we will be learning about Roman myths and legends in the first half term, and then switching to a fictional empire: The Galactic Empire from Star Wars. In Science and D&T, the children will be making light sabers whilst learning about circuits and they will then create their own musical instrument to explore African rhythms. We hope to bring the whole topic to life through visits to Verulamium Museum and the British Museum.
