Welcome to Year 1 2022/2023
Welcome to the Spring Term in Year 1.
Each of the schools terms are themed:
Autumn term - the EXPLORE term (with a specific focus on Geography & Science)
Spring term - the DISCOVER term (with a specific focus on History)
Summer term - the CREATE term (with a specific focus on Art and Music)
In History we will be beginning the term by answering the question "Who wants to play?". This involves us learning about toys and their existence for hundreds of years.
In Science we will be looking at materials and thinking carefully about what things are made from.
The children's learning has been summarised in school curriculum maps (you can find each map under each subject) which show progression across the school and knowledge organisers (KOs) which are specific to each class. Use the links below to take you to the KOs that will be being used in the Discover term.
It is great to be back after the summer holidays. You'll find some information here about what's in store this term. Pictures of what the children have been up to will be regularly posted on the school's Instagram.

In Geography we will be answering the question "How would an alien find Hollybush". This involves us learning about where we live, our home addresses, and where our school is. As the term progresses we will look at the 4 countries of the United Kingdom.
In Science we will be looking Humans as mammals. We will be learning all about our bodies and our senses.
