English Activities

Have you come across the 30 Day Lego Challenge?  Click on the link and it will take you to the challenge.  I would like you to have a go at Day 6.  The English activity follows on from this.  Thank you for all your pictures on new growth.  I’ll keep this challenge open for a few more days.  After building your space ship (the 30 Day Lego Challenge – Day 6) I would like you to draw a labelled diagram of the ship.  If you don’t have any Lego you could always build a space ship out of boxes (if you have them) or design your own on paper.  Remember labelling lines must be drawn in pencil, using a ruler, and labels (text) horizontal.  When you’ve finished your diagram can you write a description of your journey from Mars to Earth.  Make it exciting: perhaps you encounter an asteroid belt; encounter a friendly or unfriendly UFO or lose radio contact with Mission Control.  However, you do arrive safely back home!

Thursday 26th March 2020

Today, we're going to take a break from Charlie Changes Into A Chicken.  You can still listen to the next part (Interlude).  I'd like you to enter one of my favourite teaching websites - The Literacy Shed.  Inside you'll find all sorts of activities.  Head towards, 'Dreamgiver' and enjoy watching the short animation.  Now you to get creative.  Pretend you are asleep in that bed instead of the little boy.  You've left some of your toys scattered around your bed (a maximum of three).  The Dreamgiver cracks his eggs over your toys.  Write the dream you have!  Try and use lots of adjectives and similes and metaphors if you can.  

Wednesday 25th March 2020

Listen to Chapter 3.  Pay special attention to the description given of Flora.  Draw a picture of what you think Flora would look like.  Around the picture write lots of adjectives to describe her.  Click on 'adjective' if you need reminding what these are!
