Friday 8th May 2020

Today we celebrate 75 years since the first VE Day. The long awaited moment when fighting stopped on the European battlefields of the Second World War. What are you doing in your house? In my village instead of a street party (that was planned) people will sit in their own front gardens between 4pm and 6pm and have some food and I think there will be music. My mum has delivered some cupcakes and we will do some more baking tomorrow. We have made a sign and we will make some bunting this morning.

A famous lady named Vera Lynn performed her beautiful songs to the troops in WW2, one song called We Will Meet Again is very poignant now.  These are the words from the first verse:

We'll meet again
Don't know where
Don't know when
But I know we'll meet again some sunny day
Keep smiling through
Just like you always do
'Till the blue skies drive the dark clouds far away

Have a great day; don’t forget to join the 2 minute silence at 11am.

Please do send in your videos so you can be a part of our whole school ‘A Million Dreams’ montage, even if you only want to do a line, it would be wonderful to see you on it. I’m doing my video today…..wish me luck!
