Homework and helpful hints

In Year 3, we encourage children to build strong daily learning habits at home. As part of our homework expectations, pupils should read for at least 10 minutes every day—this helps develop fluency, comprehension, and a love of books. In addition, we ask that children spend 10 minutes each evening practising their multiplication skills using Times Table Rock Stars. Regular use of this platform boosts confidence and speed with times tables, which are essential for success in maths. These short, consistent routines make a big difference over time and help reinforce what we’re learning in class.

Later in the year, I’ll be adding optional challenge tasks to Google Classroom to help children reinforce and extend the skills they’ve learnt during the week. These activities are designed to be fun and engaging, giving pupils the chance to apply their knowledge in creative ways and deepen their understanding. While not compulsory, they offer a great opportunity for children who enjoy a little extra challenge and want to stretch themselves further.
