Hollybush school choir does Disney
The Hollybush school choir has been working all term to put on a concert for friends and families and members of our community to make us all happy. We have been talking about singing as a way of promoting good mental health. And what could make us happier than Disney classics such as Bare Necessities and A Spoonfull of Sugar! Working hard to put on a performance helped us all develop resilience and the ability to cope with our nerves.
But don’t take my word for it. Here are some of the comments made by the children in the choir :
Bella: “I felt nervous and excited at the same time, but when I sang I didn’t feel nervous.”
Lily: “I felt amazing because I love making people happy.”
George “I felt very happy and excited but a little nervous. We wish we could do it again.”
Ruby: “I felt very proud of myself because I’m a little bit shy until I get going.”
Millie: ”After the concert I felt proud and very happy and I couldn’t stop smiling.”
Angelina: “ I felt excited nervous and proud of myself. Even though I didn’t know the words I still carried on.”
We raised money and awareness for the charity Family Lives, which runs a free helpline supporting parents with all sorts of family issues.
Mrs Kenway would like to thank all the children who worked so hard and made so many people smile and we would all like to thank Mrs Kenway for her passion, dedication and for putting together such a fabulous performance.
